FUQIAO Arts & Projects

Vision

Creating new forms of artistic cooperation between Europe and Asia

01.

A transnational curatorial platform

FUQIAO conceives, develops, and supports contemporary art projects connecting artists, institutions, and partners across Europe and Asia.

02.

Curating as a practice of relation

An exhibition is not merely a collection of works. It creates situations in which practices, narratives, spaces, cultures and audiences encounter one another.

03.

Singular and experimental projects

FUQIAO develops exhibitions, artistic dialogues, commissions, residencies and mediation formats, each one grounded in the unique vision of the artist and curatorial research.

04.

New models of cultural cooperation

The platform combines artistic ambition, international development, innovation and operational structuring to enable projects that transcend conventional frameworks.

01.

Singularity

Respecting the distinctive practice of each artist.

02.

Reciprocity

Building exchanges that transform both sides.

03.

Experimentation

Inventing new curatorial and mediation formats

04.

Continuity

Developing lasting institutional relationships.

A bridge connects two shores. Yet it belongs to neither.

The Floating Bridge

A bridge connects two shores.
Yet it belongs to neither.

It exists in the space that separates them, in the movement that leads from one to the other, in the uncertainty of passage.

浮桥

FUQIAO means “floating bridge.”

A bridge that does not impose itself upon the landscape.
A bridge that moves with the currents.

A bridge that shifts with forms, languages, and memories.

We do not seek to erase distances.
We seek to make them fertile.

Between Europe and Asia,
Between still and moving images,

Between the intimate and the collective,

Between what appears and what disappears,

We create spaces of relation.

We believe that an exhibition can become a threshold,
That a work can open a passage,
That a dialogue can produce a territory that did not exist before.

Not to connect worlds imagined as fixed,
but to accompany the new forms
that emerge when they meet.

Founder & Curatorial Direction

Daniel Duhautbout

Founder and Curatorial Director

Conceiving a cultural project means connecting an artistic vision with partners, territories, resources, and audiences.
This sentence immediately establishes the relationship between my previous experience and my present role.

Daniel Duhautbout founded FUQIAO on the belief that contemporary art requires new models of cooperation between artists, institutions, territories, technologies and economic partners to transform.

He has a professional background in innovation, entrepreneurship, and international development. He has conceived and led projects that have brought together research, healthcare, digital technologies, public institutions and international partners.

This experience has taught him how to refine a vision, combine different forms of expertise, and convert a complex concept into a structured, fundable, and executable project.

At FUQIAO, he puts these capabilities at the service of contemporary art.

The intention is not to transfer technology industry methods directly into the art world, but rather to draw upon an innovative culture to invent new production, cooperation, mediation and circulation methods for artistic projects.

His curatorial approach pays particular attention to practices that explore time, memory, perception, displacement and the transformation of identity.

The concept of the ‘Between’ is central to his approach, representing the space in which works, cultures, and disciplines interact without losing their individuality.

A Curatorial Vision in Practice

Curatorial
Conception

Developing a concept, constructing relationships between works, and translating an artistic intuition into an exhibition experience.

Transnational
Cooperation

Creating the conditions for an exacting dialogue between artists, institutions, and audiences in Europe and Asia.

Cultural
Innovation

Imagining new models of production, mediation, partnership, and funding for contemporary art.

My experience has taught me that the most innovative projects rarely emerge from within a single field. They appear when different skills, cultures, and visions are given the space to meet.

FUQIAO was born from this conviction.
