Inhabiting
the In-Between
introduction
The Porous Instant does more than simply place two artistic trajectories side by side.
Instead, the project creates an intermediate space in which the works of Cecilia Ho and Robert Cahen interact with, displace and transform one another.
In Robert Cahen’s work, images appear, slow down, tremble, and disappear. This makes the passage of time and the uncertainty of perception tangible.
In Cecilia Ho’s work, images, fibres and gestures circulate between intimate memory, cultural transmission and collective experience.
Between their practices, an open territory emerges: the In-Between.
This space is neither empty nor neutral. It is a place where one image can extend another, where movement encounters matter, and where individual memory opens onto a plurality of narratives.
The meaning lies not only within the works themselves, but also in the relationships that emerge between them.
Two Practices,
One Space of Resonance
Cecilia Ho
Cecilia Ho and Robert Cahen have contrasting artistic histories, cultural contexts and visual practices.
Cecilia Ho works through a variety of media, including ink, photography, weaving and installation. Robert Cahen is an artist who uses video, sound and moving image to explore themes of time and perception.
What connects them is not similarity, but resonance.

FUQIAO identified a significant overlap in their respective approaches to memory, presence, disappearance, movement and transmission.
This encounter led to the conception of The Porous Moment , a curatorial project in which the works are exhibited together without compromising their individuality.
We are pleased to present two distinct artistic worlds. This resonance could not be produced by either practice alone.
A Journey in Three Movements
The visitor gradually moves through three different states of relation to the works.

The Threshold
Entering uncertainty
The journey begins with an experience of passage.
Image and matter open a space in which familiar points of reference begin to shift. The visitor gradually leaves behind immediate recognition and enters a slower mode of perception.

The In-Between
Experiencing relation
At the heart of the exhibition, the works are no longer perceived in isolation.
Images, weavings, voices, and movements construct an active interval crossed by correspondences, differences, and transformations.

The Multiples
Opening up resonances
The journey then unfolds into several constellations: lives of things, presence, breath of the world, passage, pores of time, and embrace.
Each space proposes a new way of connecting the personal and the collective, the still and the moving, trace and disappearance.
The Bridge-Map of the In-Between
The Bridge-Map of the In-Between invites visitors not to search for a single interpretation, but to construct a personal relationship between the works.
Beginning with a word, a sensation, a memory, or a question, each visitor can identify what circulates from one work to another: a trace, a breath, a presence, a disappearance, or a transformation.
These contributions may gradually form a living archive of the resonances produced by the exhibition.

Host The
Porous Moment
The Porous Moment is conceived as a project that can adapt to different architectural, institutional, and cultural contexts.
Its journey can be developed as a full exhibition, a more concentrated presentation, a research programme, a residency, or a transnational format connecting several venues.
FUQIAO is seeking museums, art centres, foundations, curators, producers, and partners interested in supporting the realisation and touring of the project across Europe and Asia
